An Adventure of the American Mind: Joining Educators and Students With Library of Congress Resources
Resources

Overview

Assistance comes in many forms. Here there are seven resources to help AAM teachers.

Lesson Plans

The Lesson Plan Database contains unit plans, lesson plans, and activities designed by and for K-12 public, private, and charter schoolteachers. These plans demonstrate effective, efficient, and wise use of Library of Congress - American Memory and local primary resources in teaching and learning activities.

Newsletters

Four different newsletters are provided for AAM administrators, teachers, and home school parents. You can view samples of each newsletter and sign up for them here.

Copyright

The reproduction of copyrighted materials in educational settings presents some interesting questions. This section provides links to some useful copyright-related resources.

Papers

Papers and articles that describe, analyze, or provide insight for the AAM program.

Books

This section contains published titles by American Memory staff and fellows.

Useful Links

This is a list of carefully selected web sites that will be useful to AAM teachers. They are presented through a searchable database.

Phone Hotline

The AAM Telephone Support line is closed.

On September 21, the AAM Telephone Support Line or "Hotline" ceased operations. This support program was operational for nearly a year, but evidence showed there was little demand for it.

Help

This section provides links to manufacturer support numbers, software tutorials, and other support resources.

Quotes from AAM Teachers:

"If we lead them to useful tools and present them in passionate and engaging ways, the spark will be ignited in many students to pursue further exploration. Students are much more excited about and engaged in topics of study in which their teacher shows interest. Our passion for our work and our chosen tools (web sites, texts, novels, video, etc.) is obvious to our students."

Nora Tesmond, Teacher - Loyola University AAM Participant

An Adventure of the American Mind is made available through a Library of Congress grant funded by the U.S. Congress. AAM is administered through the Education and Research Consortium of the Western Carolinas Inc.
